PM Free Bijli Yojana: A new scheme has been announced by our country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The name of this scheme is ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme’. This is a rooftop solar scheme. This new scheme will provide the benefit of free electricity to 1 crore houses. The government is going to invest more than Rs 75,000 crore on this scheme. The goal behind this scheme is to illuminate 1 crore houses by providing free electricity up to 300 units every month.

Under this scheme, the government will transfer the subsidy directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. That is, the beneficiaries will get the direct benefit of the scheme. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries will also get the benefit of bank loans at concessional rates. The Prime Minister informed that a national online portal will be created for this in which all kinds of facilities will be integrated. In a way, this portal will work like an interface. You will be able to avail all kinds of facilities in it. To promote this scheme at the grassroots level, urban local bodies and panchayats will be encouraged to promote rooftop solar systems in their areas.
You can take advantage of subsidy
Apart from this, the objective of this scheme is to increase income, reduce electricity bills and create employment opportunities for the people. In such a situation, this is really a commendable step. If you are planning to install solar panels on the roof of your house, then you can apply for subsidy under Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under the scheme, you will be provided a total subsidy of Rs 18 thousand for one kilowatt, Rs 30 thousand for up to two kilowatts and Rs 78 thousand for 3 kilowatts. To avail the subsidy, you have to keep in mind that the load should not be more than 85 percent.

- The benefits of this scheme will be given only to Indian citizens.

- The annual income of the family of the applicant should not exceed Rs 1.5 lakh.
